Today marks 50 consecutive days of writing and blogging, a milestone I never anticipated when I first started this creative journey. What began as a creative project in honor of the month it took to record the “Rubber Soul” album by The Beatles has evolved into a dedicated practice for me. What began as a simple commitment to write has become a daily rhythm that continues to nourish my creativity, challenge my thinking, and strengthen my sense of purpose. It has also created a space for reflection for me that has deepened my awareness within and around me.
This unexpected gift of daily blogging has also helped me find greater clarity as I work toward completing my second book, Leadership Riffs, while reminding me that nurturing my creativity is just as essential to my well-being as caring for my religious faith, physical health, and mental health. Along the way, I have learned to to appreciate the unexpected, embrace uncertainty, and find meaning in the moments that unfold before me. In short, I have found peace.
Perhaps my greatest realization is that I no longer need to wait for someone else to invite me to create, contribute, or grow. Sometimes the most important invitation we can receive is the one we extend to ourselves. Fifty days later, I am still writing, still learning, and still finding my groove. I cannot imagine letting go of this rhythm anytime soon. I have discovered that the invitation I extend to myself each to write, create, and grow I one of the greatest gifts I can give myself. What began as an unexpected rhythm has become a essential part of who I am becoming. The invitation is mine to extend, the creativity is mine to nurture, and the gift is mine to embrace.
